FinestraPhoto is now Lia Ballentine Photography! No worries though. It’s the same photographers, same fresh style — just a new name (my name!) and brand. A more personal one.
Why the change?
Brandon and I always loved the name “Finestra.” As photography students, we learned that the “F” in f-stop (aperture) stood for “finestra,” which is an Italian term for window or opening. However, as cool as we thought the name was, everyone else always called us “Fine Star” or “Fine Strap” and the whole concept of FinestraPhoto sort of flew out the window (pun intended). Also, by calling ourselves FinestraPhoto, we inadvertently removed the photographer from the photography business. And we really want our clients to know they are hiring photographers and not a generic photo service or studio — because we’re not the shopping center portrait studio that uses old muslin backdrops and props… we’re not that studio next to the food court. We’re artists.
Photography is all about the connection between the photographer and the subject(s). In our case, the best wedding photographs are created when we have a strong relationship with the bride and groom. And it’s much easier to start building that personal relationship by first introducing ourselves (myself) by name.
So…
Hi! I’m Lia. And I’d love to take your photograph. {Smile}
I’m really happy to have made this simple change. I wish I had thought to just be myself from the beginning. Duh! Live and learn, right?
Well, I’m looking forward to all of the exciting and wonderful people that I’ll get to meet through my camera lens this year. And I hope you’re one of them!
